It is a lawful requirement to have a valid MOT if your vehicle is more than three years old. Your MOT is required to take place annually to check the safety standards and exhaust emissions of your vehicle. You need to book a MOT test urgently if your MOT has already expired. MJB is a DVSA-approved garage that offers a comprehensive check of all the essential vehicle components in accordance with legal guidelines. Following the inspection, we identify any issues with your vehicle and advise you on what repairs are needed to get the car in a condition to pass. MJB Motor Services is also a member of the Good Garage Scheme, which helps drivers in need of repairs or MOTs to find a reliable local garage. A business must have a record of at least two years of successful trading and at least four verified references to qualify for the Good Garage Scheme.

MOTs ensure your car's vital components meet the necessary standards to keep you safe on the road. Our skilled technicians will inspect your car, including its exhaust, tyres, brakes, suspension, batteries, seats, seatbelts, clutch, and doors. If your vehicle passes, you'll receive a VT20 certificate. This certificate is a legal necessity for every responsible motorist. However, if we do discover any issues during the inspection, you'll receive a VT30 certificate, which outlines what needs changing.

The MOT scheme monitors the road safety of cars three years or older. At least once a year your vehicle must be taken to a garage to pass the test. This is a standard requirement to ensure the case is safe to be driven on the road.
You will be issued with a VT3O Certificate stating clearly what is causing the vehicle to fail. In some instances, expert or special services may be required. There is no time limit before a retest but a car that does not have a current MOT certificate is not allowed to be used on the road except when travelling to be repaired or for a prearranged MOT test.
Class 7 MOTs apply to commercial vehicles with a gross weight of 3,000kg to 3,500kg. Larger vans like the Ford Transit fall under this category.
You can refer to the V5 registration document or handbook if you are at all uncertain if your vehicle aligns with this weight category. Alternatively, you can contact your vehicle manufacturer’s customer service department and provide them with your vehicle details, including the vehicle identification number (VIN).
